Geumjeongsan

Geumjeongsan has historically been considered as a mountain conducive to the defense of the country. Geumjeongsan has historically been considered as a mountain conducive to the defense of the country. For this reason, Beomeosa, a leading temple believed to defend and protect the country, was built along Geumjeongsanseong Fortress, the nation’s largest fortress built in The Three Kingdoms period. Geumjeongsan Mountain has Godangbong Peak, the main peak rising 801.5 meters above sea level, as well as Janggunbong Peak (727 meters) in the north, Sanggyebong Peak (638 meters) in the south, and Baegyangsan Mountain (642 meters) behind Seongjigok Valley. In between these peaks are numerous other smaller peaks like Wonhyobong, Uisangbong, Mireukbong, Daeryukbong, Paryubong, and Dongjebong.

There are 14 mineral springs in Geumjeongsan Mountain. The springs are used by hikers, and serve as a water source for people living nearby. With 2,300 types of trees and 600 or so types of animals, the mountain is a habitat for wild life. Nearby, there are various tourist sites such as Dongnae Spa, Geumgang Gongwon Park, Beomeosa Temple, Gukcheongsa Temple, Geumjeongsanseong Fortress, and Sanseong Maeul Village.

WATER FACTS

Water is a transparent fluid which forms the world's streams, lakes, oceans and rain, and is the major constituent of the fluids of living things. As a chemical compound, a water molecule contains one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms that are connected by covalent bonds. Water is a liquid at standard ambient temperature and pressure, but it often co-exists on Earth with its solid state, ice; and gaseous state, steam (water vapor).

Water covers 71% of the Earth's surface. It is vital for all known forms of life. On Earth, 96.5% of the planet's water is found in seas and oceans, 1.7% in groundwater, 1.7% in glaciers and the ice caps of Antarctica and Greenland, a small fraction in other large water bodies, and 0.001% in the air as vaporclouds (formed of solid and liquid water particles suspended in air), and precipitation. Only 2.5% of the Earth's water is freshwater, and 98.8% of that water is in ice and groundwater. Less than 0.3% of all freshwater is in rivers, lakes, and the atmosphere, and an even smaller amount of the Earth's freshwater (0.003%) is contained within biological bodies and manufactured products.
Earth surface waters are filled with life. The earliest life forms appeared in water; nearly all fish live exclusively in water, and there are many types of marine mammals, such as dolphins and whales. Some kinds of animals, such as amphibians, spend portions of their lives in water and portions on land. Plants such as kelp and algae grow in the water and are the basis for some underwater ecosystems. Plankton is generally the foundation of the ocean food chain.

Water is the chemical substance with chemical formula H
2
O
: one molecule of water has twohydrogen atoms covalently bonded to a single oxygen atom.
The major chemical and physical properties of water are:
  • Water is a liquid at standard temperature and pressure. It is tasteless and odorless. The intrinsiccolour of water and ice is a very slight blue hue, although both appear colorless in small quantities. Water vapour is essentially invisible as a gas.
Water is absolutely essential to the human body’s survival. A person can live for about a month without food, but only about a week without water.
Water helps to maintain healthy body weight by increasing metabolism and regulating appetite.
Water leads to increased energy levels. The most common cause of daytime fatigue is actually mild dehydration.

Drinking adequate amounts of water can decrease the risk of certain types of cancers, including colon cancer, bladder cancer, and breast cancer.
For a majority of sufferers, drinking water can significantly reduce joint and/or back pain.
Water leads to overall greater health by flushing out wastes and bacteria that can cause disease.
Water can prevent and alleviate headaches.
Water naturally moisturizes skin and ensures proper cellular formation underneath layers of skin to give it a healthy, glowing appearance.
Water aids in the digestion process and prevents constipation.
Water is the primary mode of transportation for all nutrients in the body and is essential for proper circulation.

Drinking too much water too quickly can lead to water intoxication. Water intoxication occurs when water dilutes the sodium level in the bloodstream and causes an imbalance of water in the brain.

From a biological standpoint, water has many distinct properties that are critical for the proliferation of life that set it apart from other substances. It carries out this role by allowing organic compoundsto react in ways that ultimately allow replication. All known forms of life depend on water. Water is vital both as a solvent in which many of the body's solutes dissolve and as an essential part of many metabolic processes within the body. Metabolism is the sum total of anabolism and catabolism. In anabolism, water is removed from molecules (through energy requiring enzymatic chemical reactions) in order to grow larger molecules (e.g. starches, triglycerides and proteins for storage of fuels and information). In catabolism, water is used to break bonds in order to generate smaller molecules (e.g. glucose, fatty acids and amino acids to be used for fuels for energy use or other purposes). Without water, these particular metabolic processes could not exist.

Birds world

Birds are one of the six basic groups of animals. Birds, best known for their ability to fly, are unmatched in their command of the skies.  Some species such as kiwis and penguins, lost their ability to fly long ago in favor of lifestyles suited more for land or water. All birds reproduce by laying eggs. Most species lay their eggs in a nest. Nests may vary in size, shape, and construction material, but the most common nest shape is cup-shaped.

Birds do not have teeth.Instead they have bills that are made of the protein keratin. Bird bills come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are adapted to the particular diet of each species.  Birds have a tongue, but unlike human tongue, a bird's tongue has a bone in it.
Birds mostly use their keen eyesight to find food. Some amazing hunters, like eagles, have eyesight that is five to six times sharper than a person's. They can spot small prey from a mile away.

Ostriches are flightless birds that have a large body, small head, long legs, and a long neck. Although they cannot fly, they are remarkable runners, able to run at speeds of up to 45 mph for half an hour. Adult ostriches weigh between 220 and 350 pounds and measure between 7 and 9 1/4 feet in height.
An Ostrich

Also  lays the largest birds' eggs; their eggs are up to 4.5 x 7 inches (11 x 18 cm) across and weigh 3 pounds (1400 g).

Birds of ethiopia

Ethiopia is home to an impressive number of species of birds that vary from residents, that stay all year around, to breeding birds, that spend a good part of the growing season in Ethiopia to raise their young, migrants who pass through Ethiopiawith the seasons, to wintering birds who like to spend a good part of the winter in Ethiopia to escape colder conditions up north. Among the species of the checklist of the birds of Ethiopia you can find
Sandgrouse

Kingfishers
Cranes
Pigeons
Guineafowl

Helmeted Guineafowl

Do you dream of traveling to space?

We live in a world of great geological and ecological diversity. Have a look, you’ll think that you’ve traveled to another world!

Teotihuacan

There is so much we can learn about the ancient world. With every discovery, archaeologists uncover more about civilizations that came before us.           Very little is known about the people who lived in the city of Teotihuacan. About 30 miles northeast of Mexico City, it was the greatest city in the Western Hemispherebefore the 1400s, the Mayans, and the Aztecs. The Aztecs, after discovering the city, named it Teotihuacan, “the place where god were created.”

Fly Geyser, United States

Fly Geyser, located in the Nevada Desert, is a collection of three large, colorful mounds which continually shoot five feet of water straight up into the air. It was accidentally created in 1916, during a routine well-drilling. It worked normally until the 1960s, when heated geothermal water started spurting out through the well. Dissolved minerals began to accumulate and gradually built up into the large, colored mounds we see today. Fly Geyser is amongst the most secret places on Earth, as it’s located on private property and no tourists or sightseers are allowed in.

Mount Roraima, Brazil

Mount Roraima is particularly unusual to look at because, rather than finishing in a peak like most mountains, its top is a large plateau. It’s thought to be amongst the world’s oldest geological formations, and its plateau was most likely created by winds and rains. The plateau is often cloaked with clouds, which are more often than not near the top of the mountain. It has a particularly large number of endemic species of flora and fauna – species that can can be found nowhere else on Earth. There’s no explanation as to why it has such an unusually large amount.

Yellowstone National Park is among the most famous parklands in the world, drawing droves of visitors from around the globe each year. As the active caldera of a tremendous super volcano, it houses some spectacularly unusual vistas. Visitors travel here to watch erupting geysers and explore colorful acidic hot springs. The terrain is delicate—and dangerous—but walkways make much of it accessible.

Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia

This is the largest salt flat on the planet, measuring 10,582 square kilometers. About half of the lithium on the planet is stored in this salt flat. During the dry season, the white, cracked ground extends into the distance, looking impressively alien. During the wet season, the basin fills. The shallow water stretches to the horizon, amazingly flat and reflective—like a huge liquid mirror.
